Having purchased 17 Sam K steel 9ft American Pool Tables in November we have seen a big increase in demand for these high quality tables. Thanks to our very competitive price of £1200 for a fully reconditioned table delivered and installed we now have only 6 tables left. This week we have had an order to supply 3 of these tables to a new club which is opening in Brixton which goes to show if the price is right customers will buy despite the recession.

We have had confirmation today of an export order for a reconditioned full size snooker table to,be shipped to the Gambia in West Africa, this is the first time we have exported there . The table is going to be shipped up country to a construction site where it will be used in one of the staff rest rooms helping the construction workers to relax after a hard days work in difficult conditions. There has been no shortage of volunteers among the fitters at Kingswood Leisure who would like to go to the Gambia to install the table , hard luck boys the customer is using his own team to install the table, better luck next time !

Over the last three years a large number of snooker clubs have closed throughout the country leading to a surplus of club snooker tables the problem is what to do with them ! A few weeks ago we were asked to remove ten tables from a club that had closed down , the problem was that we knew in the current climate we would find it difficult to sell the tables. Today we completed the installation of one of our Vegas 9ft reconditioned American pool tables. We had two of these tables in stock and have now sold both of them . I think the pictures show how well these tables have been refurbished and will give potential customers who view them added confidence when buying.

Yesterday we completed the installation of one of our Philip Beard bespoke pool diners. This pool table diner is made of American ash and is the first one Philip has made in a 6ft model. The customers chose a Hainsworth napped cloth in Windsor red as the table covering , we think it looks very stylish . The table constructed in ash compliments the timber floor, giving ths dining area a contempoary look.

I expect some of you wonder when watching professional snooker matches how the players manage to get such high breaks and accurate ball response. Part of the answer is due to the table which for championship and professional matches are fitted with steel block cushions.
This was an idea pioneered and patented by Burroughes and Watts and it involves the rubber cushions being attached to a 10mm steel plate that is then fixed to the side of the slate bed. This then makes the cushions totaly firm and rigid so the ball response is the same off every cushion and is far superior to the response one gets from normal wooden cushions which can very depending on the density of the timber.These cushions can be fitted to any full size table as they have elongated holes which allow for different fixing points. We are pretty close neighbours to the Severn Valley Railway at Kingswood Leisure , but we don’t want to spend every hour working on pool tables so at the end of this week we took a break from reconditioned and new pool tables and went to see the Tornado A1 Pacific class Locomotive that was on a visit to the SVR . This is the first locomotive to be built in the last 45 years , she is magnificent , so having enjoyed a few hours off it’s back to the grind stone and working on all those pool tables ready for Christmas
